To find shear strength of a given soil specimen Vane Shear Test की सहायता मृदा नमूने की किसी दिए गए मिट्टी के नमूने की कर्तन  शक्ति का पता लगाना।

  • सिद्धांत (Theory):-

मिट्टी की संरचनात्मक मजबूती मूल रूप से अपरूपण शक्ति की समस्या है। वेन अपरूपण परीक्षण मिट्टी की अपरूपण शक्ति को मापने का एक उपयोगी तरीका है। यह एक सस्ता और तेज तरीका है। परीक्षण प्रयोगशाला में भी किया जा सकता है। संयोजी मिट्टी की अपरूपण शक्ति के मापन के लिए प्रयोगशाला फलक अपरूपण परीक्षण, कम अपरूपण क्षमता (0.3 किग्रा/सेमी2 से कम) की मिट्टी के लिए उपयोगी है जिसके लिए त्रिअक्षीय या असंबद्ध परीक्षण नहीं किए जा सकते हैं। परीक्षण मिट्टी की अप्रशिक्षित ताकत देता है। मिट्टी की संवेदनशीलता का मूल्यांकन करने के लिए प्राप्त अबाधित और रीमोल्ड ताकत उपयोगी है

  • विधि(Method):-

1.Prepare दो या तीन कम से कम 37.5 मिमी व्यास और नमूने में 75 मिमी लंबाई। (एल / डी अनुपात 2 या 3) के आयामों की मिट्टी के नमूने ।

2. नमूना कंटेनर को वेन शीयर उपकरण के आधार पर नमूने के साथ माउंट करें। यदि नमूना कंटेनर एक छोर पर बंद है, तो इसे नीचे लगभग 1 मिमी व्यास के छेद के साथ प्रदान किया जाना चाहिए।

3. मिट्टी के नमूने को प्रभावित किए बिना शियर वेन्स को उनकी पूरी लंबाई तक धीरे-धीरे नीचे करें। वैन का शीर्ष नमूना के शीर्ष से कम से कम 10 मिमी नीचे होना चाहिए। मोड़ के कोण की रीडिंग पर ध्यान दें।

4. जब तक नमूना विफल न हो जाए, तब तक उपयुक्त टॉर्क एप्लिकेशन हैंडल को संचालित करके वैन को एक समान दर पर 0.1o / s पर घुमाएं।

5. मोड़ के कोण की अंतिम रीडिंग पर ध्यान दें।

6. ब्लेड की ऊँचाई का मान सेमी में ज्ञात कीजिए।

7. ब्लेड की चौड़ाई का मान सेमी में ज्ञात कीजिए।

  • सावधानियाँ (Precautions):-
  1. नमूने को DISTURB होने से बचाना चाहिए
  2. नमूने क दोनों सिरे उपकरण मैं अच्छे  प्रकार से बैठ जाने चाहिए
  3. बल को (CONSTANT  RATE )  स्थिर दर से बढ़ाना चाहिए
