Earthen Roads(मिट्टी की सड़कें):-
इस प्रकार की सड़कों में मिट्टी के साथ जगह होती है। मिट्टी की सड़कें सभी प्रकार की सड़कों की तुलना में किफायती होती हैं।
यह कम यातायात या ग्रामीण इलाकों के लिए बनाया गया है आमतौर पर मिट्टी की सड़क निम्न गुणवत्ता वाली सड़कों है।
मिट्टी की सड़क में एक पूर्ण जल निकासी प्रणाली का निर्माण किया जाना चाहिए जो अधिक अवधि के लिए अच्छे प्रदर्शन को दर्शाता हो।
Gravel Roads(बजरी सड़कें):-
इस प्रकार की सड़कें निम्न श्रेणी की सड़कें भी होती हैं, लेकिन मिट्टी की सड़कों की तुलना में मिट्टी की सड़कें अच्छी होती हैं। इस सड़क में बजरी और मिट्टी की मिट्टी डाली जाती है और फिर इसे इस सड़क में फुटपाथ सामग्री के रूप में उपयोग किया जाता है।
Murrum Roads(मुरुम रोड्स):-
अपक्षय एजेंसियों द्वारा आग्नेय चट्टानों के अपघटन से मुरम सामग्री प्राप्त होती है। लैटेरिटिक मिट्टी को मुरम कहा जाता है इस मुरम का उपयोग सड़कों को मुरुम सड़कों के रूप में जाना जाता है।
Kankar Roads(कंकड़ रोड):-
कंकड़ एक ऐसा पदार्थ है जो चूना पत्थर का अशुद्ध या अशुद्ध रूप है। इस प्रकार की सड़कों का निर्माण वहाँ किया जाता है जहाँ वैध मात्रा में चूना उपलब्ध होता है। ये सड़कें निम्न श्रेणी और निम्न प्रदर्शन वाली सड़कें हैं।
Water Bond Macadam (WBM) Roads(वाटर बॉन्ड मैकडैम सड़कें):-
वाटर बाउंड मैकडैम सड़कों के आधार में बजरी शामिल है। समुच्चय बिछाए जाते हैं और पानी छिड़कने के बाद सतह पर फैला दिया जाता है। वाटर बॉन्ड मैकडैम (WBM) सड़कें मिट्टी की सड़कों, बजरी वाली सड़कों, मुरम सड़कों और कांकड़ सड़कों की तुलना में अच्छा प्रदर्शन देती हैं।
वाटर बॉन्ड मैकडैम (WBM) सड़कें प्रत्येक परत की लगभग 10 सेमी मोटाई की परतों के रूप में होती हैं। यह सड़क बहुत उबड़-खाबड़ है और सीधे यातायात के भार में गिर सकती है।
Bituminous Roads(बिटुमिनस सड़कें):-
यह सड़कों का सबसे आम प्रकार है और इस ब्रह्मांड में इसका व्यापक रूप से उपयोग किया जाता है। बिटुमेन रोड बहुत ही किफायती और ड्राइविंग के लिए अच्छी है। इस सड़क की मोटाई सड़क के सबग्रेड पर निर्भर करती है।
बिटुमेन रोड कोलतार और बजरी या पत्थर के समुच्चय के मिश्रण से तैयार किया जाता है। ये सभी सामग्रियां बहुत सस्ती हैं और दुनिया में हर जगह उपलब्ध हैं।
Concrete Roads(कंक्रीट की सड़कें):-
इस सड़क में फुटपाथ बनाने के लिए सीमेंट का उपयोग किया जाता है। कंक्रीट की सड़कें बिटुमेन, कंकड़, वाटर बॉन्ड मैकडैम बजरी मिट्टी और मुरम सड़कों की तुलना में प्रसिद्ध और बहुत महंगी हैं। कंक्रीट की सड़कें लचीली नहीं होती हैं, इसलिए रखरखाव की लागत। कांक्रीट की सड़क काफी नीची है।
यह सड़क उच्च यातायात वाले क्षेत्रों के लिए अच्छी है। इनका निर्माण जोड़ों से किया जाता है और इस सड़क के निर्माण में काफी समय लगता है।

District roads(जिला सड़कें):-
यह शहरों के भीतर बनाया गया है और बाजारों और उत्पादन क्षेत्रों को राज्य और राष्ट्रीय राजमार्गों से जोड़ता है। यह सड़कें मुख्यतः दो प्रकार की होती हैं जो नीचे दी गई हैं

इसे साइकिल ट्रैक के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। यह साइकिल और साइकिल के लिए फुटपाथ के दोनों किनारों पर बनाया गया है ताकि वे सुरक्षित यात्रा कर सकें।
Motorways(मोटरमार्ग):-
इसे एक्सप्रेसवे भी कहा जाता है। मोटरवे रोड का उपयोग करने के लिए केवल कुछ ऑटोमोबाइल उपलब्ध हैं। इस सड़क में जो वाहन तेज गति से परिवहन कर सकते हैं उन्हें अनुमति है। मोटरवे तेजी से चलते हैं और तेज गति वाली कारों या ऑटोमोबाइल के लिए राहत देते हैं।
